What are the different types of rates?
Daily Rate
Each 24 hours, or any part of 24 hours is considered a day. There is a
one day minimum charge on all car rentals.
Weekly rate
The price of any hire period greater than 7 days will be calculated on a weekly rate.

If the car is needed beyond the original due
time and date what should be done?
At time of rental request to return the vehicle on a day other than stated
by the reservation. There is a greater likelihood for your rate to stay
the same if the return date change is requested at time of rental. If
during the rental process you wish to extend the rental beyond
the original return date, it is suggested that such extension be performed
by contacting us in advance of the due date. The rate may be subject to a change,
but may be less than the extra day rate stated on the contract. Rentals
returned after due date without prior arrangements will be charged for
extra time period, at the extra day rate.

What Credit Cards Does Great Island accept for car rentals?
a) Major Credit Cards
(Visa, MasterCard)
b) Debit Card with Visa or MasterCard Logo
Important note: Due to bank processing
it can take longer for credits on Debit Card transactions to show on the
account. We can not control the process time of the bank.

What other items are required to rent a vehicle at Great Island?
In order to rent a vehicle, the following current information
must be supplied:
1) Have a valid drivers license to operate a motor vehicle. (must be 23
year of age or older).
* Renters/Additional Renters/Drivers under the age of 25 are subject to
a daily underage charge.
2) Additional Information (when applicable):
a) Current home address (PO BOX NOT ACCEPTABLE).
b) Home Phone Number.
c) Name of Employer (if self employed a business card).
d) Phone number of employer or business.
Note: A retired person would not need to produce employer or employer
phone.

Yes. We require a small cash deposit if you are paying by cash. We do not accept cheques as payment

I've never made a reservation on the Great Island Car Rentals Web
Site, how do I know the car rental reservation has been confirmed?
While on-line a confirmation number is issued. If you entered a return
email address, a confirmation
will be supplied.
Simply print out each, or, both these pages and carry with you on rental
of the vehicle. It is suggested that you read all the questions in this
Web area, and the email confirmation response to have a full understanding
of car rental car, procedures, and service when renting at Great Island Car Rentals.

Are Great Island Car Rentals anywhere else in Ireland?
As of today, Great Island Car Rentals is primarily based in Cork area in the south of Ireland. However we also service all the major cities, airports, ferry terminals, railway and bus stations throughout the country.

Can I return my rental car to a different location than the Pick up Location?
Yes. However collection fee, in addition
to rental charges, will be charged. For collection charge fee information enter
the return location on the reservation page. A collection charge will be quoted.

Does Great Island Rent Child Restraint Seats?
Yes. There is a €5.00 per day fee.

How many locations does Great Island Car Rentals have?
Great Island Car Rentals has locations Cork Airport, Cork City and Cobh. However we also service all the major cities, airports, ferry terminals, railway and bus stations throughout the country.

I am under the age of 25, can I still rent a
car?
YES. As long as you are at least 23 years of age and meet all other car
rental qualifications. There is a €15.00 daily underage fee on all car
classes

Do I get unlimited free miles?
Yes. Collection charges apply when returning
vehicle to location other than rental location. Vehicles are only permitted
in, and can not go outside the Republic of Ireland
On Vans there
may be limited miles per day, with an extra per miles charge over the
daily miles allowance. Always check charges on confirmation.

Is there a fee for additional drivers?
A charge of €5.00
per day per additional driver does apply. Additional
drivers must meet same rental qualifications as renter.

How do I find Great Island Car Rentals at the airport?
First and foremost, refer to the email confirmation letter sent when you
submitted your current email address when making reservation. The email
confirmation page displays information that applies for location
you will rent from. If you do not have this page,call the car rental location direct in advance of arrival.

Does Great Island accept cash payments?
Yes. We require a small cash deposit if you are paying by cash. We do not accept cheques as payment.
